Terms of use
PANE ("PANE", "we", "us") is a client for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition made by an independent developer in the United Kingdom. By downloading PANE or creating a PANE account you agree to these terms.
PANE and Minecraft
- PANE is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. You need your own legal copy of Minecraft, and the Minecraft End User License Agreement and Usage Guidelines still apply to you.
- Servers and Realms can have their own rules about clients. You are responsible for following them.
Your PANE account
- You must be 13 or older to create an account. Give your real date of birth; we use it to apply safer settings to accounts under 18.
- One account per person. Keep access to your email address safe: anyone who can read your email can sign in to your account.
- Pick a username that follows the community rules below. We may change or remove names that don't.
Using PANE fairly
- Don't attack, overload, reverse engineer or try to get around the security of PANE's online services, or use them to break the law.
- Don't share modified copies of PANE or pass PANE off as your own.
- We can suspend or ban accounts and devices that break these terms or the community rules, with or without warning.
No guarantees
PANE is provided "as is" while it is in active development. Features can change or be removed, and online services can be unavailable at times. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss of data, game progress or other indirect loss from using PANE. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under UK consumer law.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is important we will say so in the launcher or on this site. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Community rules
These apply to usernames and to anything you share through PANE's online features (such as chat when it arrives).
- Be respectful. No harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech or discrimination.
- No sexual content, and nothing that sexualises or endangers children.
- No spam, scams, phishing or links to malware.
- Don't share other people's personal information.
- Don't impersonate PANE staff or other players.
Report anything that breaks these rules to support@paneclient.com (in-app reporting is coming with chat).
Privacy policy
This explains what PANE collects, why, and your rights. PANE (the developer, based in the UK) is the data controller. Contact: support@paneclient.com.
Using PANE without an account
PANE runs on your PC. Your windows, what's in them, your settings and your logs stay on your PC and are not sent to us. The launcher checks paneclient.com for new versions, which shares your IP address with our host for that request.
What we collect when you have an account
- Email address: to send your sign-in codes and contact you about your account.
- Username: shown to other PANE players.
- Date of birth: to check you are 13 or older and to apply safer defaults under 18. It is never shown to anyone.
- Device identifier: a one-way hash made from your Windows installation's ID, used to enforce bans. It can't be turned back into the original ID.
- Sign-in sessions: when and from which IP address you signed in, and which PANE version, so you can stay signed in and we can spot misuse.
- Online activity: when you were last online and, as features arrive, the things you choose to share (friends, messages, status).
- Server logs: technical logs with IP addresses and events, used to keep the service working and secure.
We don't use passwords, we don't take payments, we don't sell your data and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we can use it (legal basis)
- To provide your account and PANE's online services (performance of a contract).
- To keep PANE secure, prevent abuse and enforce our rules (legitimate interests).
- To check age and protect younger players (legitimate interests and legal obligations).
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare runs this website and the secure connection to our servers.
- Resend sends our sign-in emails.
Account data is stored on PANE's own server in the UK. Our providers may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Sign-in codes: 10 minutes. Sign-in sessions: up to 60 days after you last use them.
- Account data: while your account exists. Backups: 14 days. Server logs are overwritten as they rotate.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@paneclient.com from your account's email address. Deleting your account removes your account data. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
PANE accounts are for people aged 13 and over. Accounts for under-18s get safer defaults. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this page when what we collect changes, and say so in the launcher if the change matters.
